Solo speaking exercises?

I recently tried to engage in speaking French after having neglected that aspect of language-learning for a bit. I can reasonably read and listen to French, but I've put very little time into speaking it (and only a bit more into writing it).

I've tried some video chats with partners, but I find that I mostly embarrass myself by not knowing words. I feel like I'm mostly wasting my partner's time.
